Demographic- the structure of a population group. Examples of demographics: culture, gender, age, jobs, socio-economic status (how rich or poor you are).
GDP( Gross Domestic Product)- measures the economic activity within a country. It is the final goods and services produced in a certain time period by the country.
Circumpolar- the countries that surround the North Pole/ Arctic. Canada’s circumpolar neighbours are: Russia, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Greenland and Denmark. These countries are important trade and relationship partners with Canada.
Population Pyramid- a type of bar graph shaped like a pyramid that easily shows how populations are divided into age and gender groups.
Technology- when science is applied to make something. Not just electronics or electricity using devices.
Colonialism- when a group settles in another area and starts to control the people and resources which were in that area first.
Conflict- a serious disagreement or argument. At a country or society level, conflicts usually result in wars, riots, political unrest or upsets, or backlash from groups. There will be at least 2 groups in a conflict, sometimes more.
