Synthesizing all the knowledge on you have learned this year in regards to career education, you will research and create a road map to help guide you to your future career. Now, there will be bumps in the road, but having a physical map to guide you will keep you on track.
1. Think of/ research FIVE careers you would consider doing in the future. It is okay if they are in different career fields!
2. Take the first career (the one you are most likely to do or most passionate about) and research the following (making jot notes as you go):
- Will you need post-secondary or specialized training for this job? If yes, where will you have to go?
- Where would you have live to work at this career?
- What high school courses will you need to work in that career?
- What skills will you need to work on or develop? How could you do that?
-What experiences would be beneficial to have (volunteer, work experience, etc.), and/or would you have to do a paid or unpaid internship?
3. On one piece of paper, construct a visual road map. There should be a title with your goal career. At the beginning of the road should be all of your information about high school, working towards the very end which is your career goal. In the middle should be skills, experiences, plans after school, internships, volunteerism and other information to help you.
4. Repeat this all for the other careers on your list.
